Brand identity and print collateral for In Praise of Thought, a Substack collection of writings by poet, essayist and writer Elizabeth Haddad.
Creative Approach
Derived from the title of Elizabeth Haddad’s first collection of poems, the name In Praise of Thought perfectly encapsulates her work – a rich and diverse mix of poems, essays and writings.
Inspired by the variety and boldness of Elizabeth’s writing output, we wanted to create an art direction taking cues from experimental forms of the Arts, such as Abstraction and Concrete Poetry, embracing geometric, modular and interlocking lines and shapes, and echoing Elizabeth’s explorative and layered approach to writing.
Creative Outcome
The custom symbol and wordmark form a versatile and ever-adapting identity that can suit the seasons, moods, topics and more, reflects the unreserved and abundant collection of essays, poems and writings Elizabeth Haddad publishes on her Substack platform.
Bold yet approachable, structured yet experimental, the visual identity for In Praise of Thought feels distinctly like Elizabeth Haddad’s (@haddad_e) prose and verses — curious and analytical, composed and creatively bright.
