FAQs

WHAT FONT FILES WILL I RECEIVE?

When you purchase a licence for one of our fonts, you will receive Desktop and/or Web font files.

– .otf or .ttf for Desktop

– .woff for Web

ARE ALL THE GLYPHS AND ALTERNATES INCLUDED?

When you purchase a font, the file you download will contain all the glyphs, alternates and ligatures you can see in the type specimen.

TRIAL FONT - WHAT AM I ABLE TO USE IT FOR?

For each font we offer you the chance to request to receive a trial font for free.

This is in order that you can test the font, try it out in concept designs for a client and see if it is suitable for your project.

However, the trial fonts are for testing purposes only and do not include the full set of characters. By requesting a download file for a trial font from our site, you agree and fully understand that the font(s) cannot be used for commercial or personal use, or any other use for that matter, other than testing. In order for the font to be used outside of this restriction a full licence must be bought.

See the FAQ - FONTS - WHAT TYPE OF LICENCE DO I NEED? for further information on the licence options.

FONT LICENSING - WHAT TYPE OF LICENCE DO I NEED?

We offer two types of standard licence - Desktop and Web. You can buy just one, or both.

The licence must be purchased in the name of the end user of the font. If you are a design agency, using for more than one client, a licence will be needed for each client.

DESKTOP Licence

A Desktop Licence permits the licence holder to install and use “Desktop fonts” on a computer only. Desktop fonts are provided in the .OTF file format and should only be used on a computer. It is not permitted to use Desktop fonts on a website, or embed desktop fonts in an application, ebook, or game.

All artwork created using the Desktop fonts must only permit viewing and printing (and not the editing, altering, enhancing, or modifying) of the text or artwork after it is finalised. It is permitted to upload images created with the Desktop fonts to the licence holder's website, but the Desktop fonts must not be hosted on any web servers, websites or domains. If the font is to be used on the licence holder's website or server, the appropriate Web Licence must be purchased and the appropriate Web font files used.

WEB Licence

A Web Licence permits the licence holder to host and use “Web fonts” on web servers under the licence holder's control, or under the control of a singular organisation, for a single website. Web fonts are provided in .WOFF file formats and should only be used on the web. You are not permitted to install the Web fonts on a computer, or embed the Web fonts in an app, ebook or game.

You may use the licensed Web fonts on a website for the licensed brand. If the licence holder owns or operates multiple brands, they are only permitted to use the Web fonts on the website that represents the licensed brand that was noted during the purchasing process. The Web fonts may not be served to unlicensed domains, even if they are hosted on a licensed domain. The Web fonts must not be used to create or save any documents, or raster or vector images, or embedded into applications or any other software. The hosting or serving of the Web fonts by any third party service is prohibited.

Licence Extensions

Use in TV / Film / Broadcasting, Native apps, Games apps, NFT creation and minting will require an extended licence.

Please contact us for pricing if you would like to use our fonts in any of these circumstances or if our standard desktop or web licences do not meet your needs and we will be happy to help create a bespoke licence to fit your use.

Please see our full EULA HERE.

Licence Infringements and Violations

We use Font Radar to monitor unauthorised usage of our fonts and to recover licensing fees.

FONT LICENSING - WHAT IS FONT RADAR?

We use Font Radar to monitor unauthorised usage of our fonts and to recover licensing fees. Font Radar employs an advanced algorithm to detect fonts utilised on websites identified by their web crawlers. This partnership enables us to reach out to website creators and owners, verifying the legitimacy of font licenses and seeking resolution in the case of infringements or violations detected by Font Radar. For licensing issues, Font Radar communicates on our behalf via the email address: hypersand@licenses.fontradar.com. If you receive any email from this address, please know that it's sent on our behalf regarding licensing matters. For any questions or further information about this process, feel free to contact us directly at shop@hypersand.studio.

WILL I HAVE TO BUY THE FONT LICENCE AGAIN IF THE FONT IS UPDATED?

If one of the fonts that you have licensed in the past receives an update, don’t hesitate to ask for it, free of charge. Send us an email to shop@hypersand.studio with your order number and invoice and will send you the updated file.

WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept the majority of credit/debit cards through Stripe in order to securely process your payment data. We also accept payments via Apple Pay, Google Pay and Paypal.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

Unfortunately we are not able to offer refunds on font or mockup purchases since you have access to the file download automatically after a transaction is processed. Once you have downloaded the file, we have no way to verify if you have deleted it or not.

HOW CAN I GET MY WORK FEATURED IN THE IN USE SHOWCASE?

In Use is our showcase of projects and designs that are using our fonts and mockups. If you have used one of our products in your design, that’s great! We would love to showcase your project on our In Use carousel. Send us an email at shop@hypersand.studio and we will review it for inclusion.

DO YOU OFFER A BESPOKE FONT DESIGN SERVICE?

Yes we do. In addition to the retail fonts, we offer a bespoke type design service – we accept commissions for custom typeface design, logotype design, custom crafting of whole fonts or specific letters, glyphs or symbols – to bring personality and individuality to your visual brand identity. Contact us on shop@hypersand.studio with an outline of your project and requirements and we will get back to you. Keep in mind that type design is a long process so it is better to plan ahead.
