Brand identity for Portrait of Love, a women’s ready-to-wear brand, handmade in India.
Creative Approach
The inspiration and the delicate craft behind POL’s collection of unique handcrafted, hand-embroidered pieces are drawn from the overarching concept of a LOVE that can take on many traits, such as loyalty, creativity, devotion, playfulness, obsession and is synonymous with kinship, intimacy and destiny.
This depiction of a versatile love, polymorphous by nature, paired with the notion of “portraiture” formed a strong, inspiring background for us. We set off to explore ideas of intertwined threads, lines, shapes, designs to devise a modern, flexible, layered visual system, which could be used in varying measures—boldly, playfully, discreetly, elegantly and more.
Creative Outcome
The abstract monogram acts as an all-encompassing, stylised and versatile graphic asset, able to transform into multiple, modular shapes, and at times taking the form of a seal, an ornament, a frame or a link.
From the initials merging into the abstract monogram to the multiplicity of visual assets and uses originating from it, our adaptive visual identity embodies the artful, creative driving force behind Portrait of Love: just as the LOVE it is rooted in, it is greater than the sum of it parts.
Hyper Potential
In 2024, Portrait of Love initial collection pieces were featured in the movie Thank You For Coming and in the video clip for the song the “Haanji” by Dolly Singh.
In 2025 it was featured in Just Start-Up by the Fashion Entrepreneur Fund.
